Under the Big Top

Hey Y’all!

You know that incredible feeling that you get when you taste or smell something and it immediately transports you to a different time? Maybe it’s a dish that your mom used to make, cookies from your favorite neighborhood bakery, or the smell of your grandma’s perfume. That feeling of nostalgia brings back so many memories, and can make any regular old activity interesting and fun!

When it comes to planning your wedding, the theme and colors that you choose all really boil down to evoking a certain feeling from your guests. If you and your fiancee are really just kids at heart, there’s no better way to get all of your friends and relatives into the childhood spirit than a good, old fashioned circus!

The first rule of a circus wedding (besides fun!) is using lots of bright colors. From flowing ribbons on the ceremony chairs to signature cotton candy cocktails,  vibrant colors bring a playful and light feeling to your day. A pre-ceremony popcorn and peanuts station gives your guests the chance to grab a snack before they fill the ‘stands’.

During cocktail hour, set up a midway for guests to step right up and try their luck! Whether you stick to simple games of cornhole, or go big and rent your childhood favorite carnival stand,  you can be sure that guests will get into the spirit and go home with plenty of memories.

When it comes time to sit down for dinner, eclectic centerpieces bring pops of color to any table. I just love this unique centerpiece featuring a pinwheel and gold elephant! Tent-shaped bistro lighting is a pretty touch, but add some red and white draping and guests will have a hard time remembering that they’re not at the circus!
